Beth Owens, MAg, University of Florida/IFAS Extension

Beth is the south Florida Farm to School and Farm to Community coordinator with the University of Florida/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program. The Family Nutrition Program is a SNAP-Ed funded program which is Florida’s go-to resources for people learning to eat healthy and stay active on a budget. As the Farm to School Coordinator, Beth’s role is to enhance the environmental capacity for nutrition in communities. Her program focuses on connecting school district with local farmers, implementing school and community gardens, and conducting trainings in Smarter Lunchrooms, food safety, and school gardens.

Beth graduated with her Master of Agriculture in Agriculture Development from Texas A&M University in 2012 and received her Bachelors of Science from Virginia Tech in Animal and Poultry Sciences in 2011.
