Dr. David R. Just is an expert in Behavioral Economics and National Program Co-Leader of the Healthy Food Choices in Schools Community of Practice.
David co-directs the Cornell Center for Behavioral Economics in Child Nutrition Programs (BEN Center) and co-founded of the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement with Dr. Brian Wansink.
His work on behavioral economics and the school lunch program has shown how low cost solutions can lead school children to make healthier choices without reducing overall availability of choices. This research has won wide recognition, winning the Distinguished Extension/Outreach Group Award from the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association, the American Journal of Agricultural Economics Outstanding Journal Article (2009, 2008 honorable mention) and being cited by Discover Magazine as one of the top science stories of 2006.
David is the Associate Director of Graduate Studies in the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. He has been heavily involved in both the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association and the Northeast Agricultural and Resource Economics Association. He currently serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, on the governing boards of both the Institutional and Behavioral Economics and the Applied Risk sections of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association. He currently serves as editor of Agricultural and Resource Economics Review.
David received his PhD in 2001 and MS in 1999 from University of California-Berkeley. He received his BA in 1998, from Brigham Young University.
