Joi Vogin is the co-leader of the Encourage Kids to Eat Healthy Foods CoP content group. Joi is Project Leader and Nutrition Educator for the University of Maryland Extension’s Food Supplement Nutrition Education Program (FSNE), which is Maryland’s SNAP-Ed program. In her work for FSNE, Joi provides school-based nutrition education programs that reach students, teachers, and parents in low income communities. Joi also provides nutrition education programs that support the work of area community agencies serving SNAP-eligible individuals and families, such as literacy centers, local food banks, senior centers, and community centers. Joi has over 15 years of experience in nutrition and health education, and has worked as a clinician and researcher in addition to her teaching role. Joi holds an MS from the University of Georgia and is a Certified Nutrition Specialist and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist. Joi also has an MS in Herbal Medicine and is a clinically trained herbalist. Joi is passionate about food and healthy living, and greatly enjoys her work with FSNE to help Marylanders make healthier eating and lifestyle choices.
